One hour of time pressure says more than a day of meetings
Put a team under time pressure for an hour in a closed room with puzzles that can only be solved together, and within ten minutes you see who your team really is. Not as described on paper, but as it works when things get tense.
What becomes visible
- Roles — who keeps an overview, who dives into the details, who keeps up the pace? In an escape room those roles emerge spontaneously, without a job description.
- Communication — is information shared, or does everyone hold on to their own puzzle? Most teams lose time because someone already had the answer but never said it out loud.
- Leadership — who steps forward when it gets chaotic, and does that person leave room for others?
- Resilience under stress — with five minutes on the clock, one team stays sharp while another starts talking over each other.
Why that matters for team development
Precisely because it is a game, people drop their work mask. There is no departmental interest and no agenda: only a shared goal and a clock. What you learn about your team there is instantly recognisable in Monday morning's work. And because you experienced it together, talking about it afterwards is much easier.
Teambuilding PRO: game plus reflection
Do you want to really act on it? Then choose our Teambuilding PRO. We observe the game and add a reflection on team behaviour: what happened, when did it get stuck, and what did the team do then? That turns a fun outing into a conversation about collaboration that sticks. See the options at team outing.
Practical
Suitable for teams and for large groups too: we let several rooms play at the same time. Battle mode is for groups of 7 to 12 players (in The Courtroom and The Deal), where teams compete against each other. Combining with food and drinks is possible: play first, then talk it through over something to eat and drink.
